FA & Info Needed: Bell & Howell Filmosonic Super 8 Movie Sound Projector

Hi everyone. I bought this about 7 years ago, used it literally three times, and now need to clear out some space. If anyone wouldn't mind helping me out, can you take a look and tell me if this is a good projector? When I bought it, the man said that it played regular 8 and super 8, which turned out not to be true. It plays only Super 8. I am trying to get a Kodak Moviedeck 457 instead so I can watch my home movies, which are on both super8 and reg. 8. Can anyone tell me what they tend to go for and if I have a chance of selling mine in the same ballpark so I won't be out too much money?
Thanks everyone. To email me, please respond to jaythebarber@verizon.net

I think these go in the $20-$100 range with much random variation. Usually the belt goes bad and they won't run at the right speed or at all until it is replaced.
I would advise against buying any Kodak movie equipment, especially the later models which are mechanical nightmares and have gears that turn to powder with age. Their old regular-8 stuff and the first M2 super-8 movie camera are fine. Maybe just get a regular-8 projector. The Kodak Showtime 8 is a good one but with a rather noisy fan.
Super 8mm sound projectors always bring good money on Ebay. If it works well, I'd expect $100+ easily via Ebay. The early 70s cast metal B&H projectors like yours are good units. Main problems always seem to be weak projection output and reel shaft breakage. They're much better than their mid-late 70s all plastic projectors with rubber drive wheels.
Many people don't like 60s-70s era Kodak projectors for good reasons, but I'm a big fan of their Moviedeck line. I prefer them over B&H projectors of the same era. I own three Moviedecks and have always found them to be very easy on film and work surprisingly well. On rare occasion they will misfeed into the bottom takeup reel if the film is bent or out of shape, but it's not a big deal to fix if you catch it in time. Usually when I find them at flea markets and thrift stores they're like new in the box and work perfectly. They turn up quite frequently around here and I've never paid more than 10 bucks for one.
