1. you compare a PAL dvd with a NTSC dvd. 2. coulors seem effectively better on the new dvd 3. but it seems to me the PAL (first) Dvd looks sharper, the new one looks softer.
I imagine the Blu-ray will look even better, but these screen captures
are quite promising given the terrible state of the original DVD
release.

Does the new edition have discrete stereo dialogue ie thrdialog
follows the actors around the screen?

Regarding the dialog - it did not appear to be the case - whether it was one or more individuals it appeared to be quite open from both left and right - very easy to follow. I was not paying much attention but it certainly did not sound directional. Hope this helps. I selected the DTS 5.1 and I cannot comment on the optional 4 channel track offered.
