Hi all, I'm thinking about Christmas already, specifically, Christmas music for my groups, and I'd like to find 'unusual' songs, rather than the normal carols everyone sings.
I'm thinking of songs like The Accidentals "Rudiana", Vox Bop's "I'm In The Mood For Joy", and Go Fish's "Away In A Manger" (all heard on the excellent "Voices Only Christmas" CD ;) ).
If anyone can recommend any songs they've heard, or sing themselves, I'd really appreciate it. Offers of sheet music, or links to sites that sell the sheet music would be perfect
Many Thanks, David -- The pen is mightier than the sword, but only if the sword is very small and the pen is very sharp.

Dear David, In December, my group, Banana Boat, has released a minialbum of Christmas carrols titled "Banana Boat...Swiatecznie." Soon, it will be reviewed by RARB. Definitely, from the non-Polish perspective, these carrols are unusual
Should you be interested in samples of all the carrols and in a videoclip to one full song, you are most welcome to visit our website: http://www.banana.art.pl You will find the downloads in the "Downloads" section.

Thanks Pawel. I had a listen, and you certainly have a great sound. I really like "Requiem dla Nieznajomych Przyjaciół z „Bieszczadów”. I think some of our members (me included) would have a little trouble singing in Polish, though !
Are your arrangements available to buy, particularly for the songs in English ?
David

Take a listen to CDs by Chanticleer and Anonymous 4. Anon 4 does ancient music with a preference for "forgotten" woman composers. Chanticleer is . .well . . Chaticleer.
Whether or not their "your thing" you can only tell by listening, but those will certainly be in the "not recorded by everyone" camp.
Check out our (baSix) Christmas album "Christmastime" (www.basix.dk) - a few unusual Christmas songs on that one too.

Hi Ken, That would be great. If you're able to email it to me at this address, even better. I hope Tagalog pronunciation is easy to learn ! Let me know if I can do something for you in return
Thanks, David
