I just thought I'd make an occasional post about some songs that seem
to be forgotten when it comes to radio or CD. I don't usually have
chart positions for them because I don't care about that. I liked
them. Lots of really good records never chart.
While Petula Clark was enjoying her 60's super success, he producer,
Tony Hatch, was also producing some sides for his wife Jackie Trent.
Jackie was no Petula but she has a very big voice and her version of
"If You Love Me, Really Love Me" was an overlooked killer 45 on Kapp
in the mid 60's. Hatch did his best to copy Spector's wall of sound on
this one and he did pretty well. This is another one of my favorite
ones that never made it.....Will
That's interesting. Have you heard a song by a girl vocal group from 1967 called The Cake, of a song that I read was by Lesley Gore from 1965, called Baby That's Me (I'm mostly sure)? Their two albums have recently been re-released as well.

I couldn't find the above mentioned song but did find another one by her, "I'll be there". I never heard of her before. Nice voice overall.
Over here in the UK, a song by her was used in a TV series in 1965, the song "Where are you now (my love)" went on to become a #1 hit. "I'll be there" only made #38 in '69. In recent years the couple are better known for composing (& singing the early version) of a daily Australian TV soap theme called "Neighbours"
