Two Hits in One - The Jaggerz - The Rapper - 1970

Uni 8 February 2008 02:53:49
This snippet merges two popular versions. The first 14 seconds is the
Monophonic version with echoed portions, and the remainder is the
Stereophonic version without any echoing. Maybe someone knows the story
behind the echo, as I recall hearing both versions while it was a hit!
Maybe one, Jukebox, the other, Radio....

Jaggerz, especially, Donnie Iris, come on down and take some bows!

Because you "think" it went gold is meaningless.

What is so "great" (as you claim) about this song?

"The Rapper" is interesting for being one of the few pop songs to address
the matter of how seduction (on the part of the conqueror) is an art and how
attraction (on the part of the seductee) is not a choice, it's just
something that happens.

The song, as written, is one of the worst pieces of music and
music lyrics I've come to hate over the years.

I can't think of too many songs I hate more than this. It'd be
a toss up between listening to Debbie Boone and this.

the question was "why is it a *great* song," not, "why is it
""interesting.""

It's not that it's unusual, it's just that it received tons of airplay,
rather than some ill sounding tunes they like!!! :-)

There ya go! According to Uni it's great because it received tons
of airplay. Woweeeeeeee!

You also get a ton of "airplay" in this newsgroup. However, not one
solitary person would consider you great. Great nuisence maybe.

it!" Kawalec and yourself don't think it's great. Boo hoo!!! :-)

Oh, T', it's not the song, it's that "I" posted it! You'd shoot down
anything and everything I post! It's no wonder why all the great
Canadian music artists fled to the USA to become popular. Guess, there
was no such thing as Rock 'N' Roll, in Canada!!! I got a cut from the
Tom North... guy. Hoping you shoot it down!!!! It's causing CD rot on my
CD! :-)

How inappreciably rude by you!!! I only shoot down rubbish!
Stop your caravan of the some of the worst songs in musical memory
and you won't hear a peep from me. Case in point: I did not shoot
down Del Shannon's "Keep On Searchin'".... No, I didn't. Hence,
not a peep from me.

Case closed. Judgment to Taliesyn. Uni will pay all court costs and
damages to the innocent readers of his wacky posts.

I'm sorry to inform you, but your time has expired.

Maybe between you, Duncan Music and BobbyM, you can tell me what great
Del Shannon Stereo CDs exist! After all, you are astute CD collectors!
Who knows, maybe BobbyM will find a review of one, by Fisher-Price! :-)

It's unusual for a (cow) bell to appear in a song. I have to assume the
drummer is striking one, since he has a relatively easy percussion part.
There's an accessory that I think was outdated in the '70's, the wood
block and cow bells on drum sets!
