I usually don't post youtube clips, but I ran across this one on a blog that I found interesting. Leon Russell from 1964? on Shindig? doing "Roll Over Beethoven". Of course this was before he became famous and it's a rather stiff performance, but if you've never seen Russell clean shaven, here's your chance.

Seems to me both he and Glen Campbell did time with Ricky Nelson
also, quite possibly in his TV band along with James Burton. Does
anyone have confirmation of that?
I used to have a Russell Lee single on Roulette from late 50s or
early 60s; I know he recorded under Russell Bridges or Lee Bridges
too, maybe...plus all his session work with Sinatra, Gary Lewis and
The Playboys (probably him on "This Diamond Ring" ya know), a host
of Snuff Garret productions...god there must be a site somewhere
that lists all the myriad sessions that he did. I'll bet it is very
impressive.
There's no site that I can find, but it appears that there is a book.

The Session Years covers his first successes as a session musician for producers such as Gary S. Paxton, Phil Spector and Snuff Garrett, and his subsequent rise to prominence within the recording industry as an ace pianist, arranger and producer. ... an in-depth sessionography, which includes a listing of every 45, LP, TV show, motion picture soundtrack, commercial, etc., known to the author in which Russell has added his special talents of playing, arranging and producing. ...
