When we were planning a trip to New Orleans, Mary said the best place to stay in New Orleans Is in Belle Chasse. Seriously. she was working on getting us each a bedroom. Her dad's place has 4 baths, and it is really a unique piece of the US. She said that we would not regret being there. If you want to spend money in New Orleans she said, then do it on a rental car because you will not want to spend all your time down there on the edge of civilization--but sleeping there is fine. It is relatively quiet.
She spoke with her daughter about accommodations in New Orleas, and she was not able to find any place really reasonable. If you want to go upscale, she can get a corporate rate at the Omni Hotel--middle of the Quarter, for 140.00 or so on weeknight and 160 or so for the weekend. If you want to have fun--and if that beats the best deal you can find on the internet-she would do it for one night--maybe Wednesday or Thursday, just so you have the Quarter experience. But the rest of time, stay in sunny--very rustic Belle Chasse.
If you are thinking about Kenner or Metairie, you should just stay in Belle Chasse!
How many times can I say it? she asked
So we stayed in Belle Chasse and it was a great vacation

i hadn't thought about it before, about the precise translation of
chasse, but it occurred to me that chasse has something to do with
chassis, because sometime today, i read someone saying bonne chasse,
so it seems like we almost already have a car, too
