I don't understand the deal with Taylor... I mean he seems kind of> weird to me - like borderline crazy weird yet America loves him - and> so do I!>

One things for sure - I will be casting hundreds of votes for him per> week with www.dialidol.com!>
Most artists (check it out yourself) are borderline crazy The problem is, this show never attracted artists - it attracted little girls that wanted to drink champagne like Mariah... This is what interests me. Will he be cast off because he doesn't fit 'the mold', or is America finally looking for 'more'...

He's genuine. When I first saw him I thought he was just trying to be joe cocker, but as time went on I realized thats just him. He is just a genuine person and a genuine vocalist and a genuine singer (i hope someone here knows the difference). His performance the other night was one of the better, but not his best and yet he still showed us what a talent he is.

That's what I was hitting on the other day. I love that AI has real artists now. It's...refreshing. I almost feel bad for them though, but I guess you get to a certain age, and you're like 'I'm good enough to make it past AI no matter what they do to me, or I'm not, but I ain't gettin' another chance this big before it's too late...'
I like Taylor--looks like Leno, sounds like Sam Ckke and jerks arrythmically like Ray Charles. He's sure got a gimmick going.

Jim
I was hoping they'd limit calls this year, like they did on DwtS. I'm not a big fan of "One person--One redial button to cast as many votes as possible in two hours"

I guess it does give them a good indication of the batshit hysteria of a given contestant's fanbase. More hysteria = more money for whomever's marketing him/her.

i think it's more about America being rather tired of the crappy music we get these days and along comes a plain looking guy with gray hair who can outsing just about anyone in AI. America is starting to wake up and is demanding much better music these days...and it's about time too. Interesting... Well in the case of DialIdol it's one person clicking one button and casting hundreds of votes for their favorite Idol - clearly not a "democratic" choice but an argument could be made that if someone is fanatical enough to vote hundreds of times for an Idol that alone says they have a fan base out their that does in fact make they an Idol. That makes them marketable and stuff.
After all artists in the industry want you to buy their third album more than they do their first - they make more money of the third album. Who do you think is buying the third album? Fanatical fans... Haha - fanatical fans...
Well I thought that last year with the introduction of Bo and Anwar into the competition and while I like Bo Bice's "The Real Thing" and have listened dozens of times - it is the same old Hollywood crap - 3 minutes 30 seconds long, all chorus and no real substance or emotion to the song. To me - it is the opposite of him performing something like "In A Dream"... That was pure art. One things for sure - Bo Bice's "Hollywood" record is not his fault....

Nope. I hope he does better on his follow up when he isn't so much under an AI thumb.
But maybe health problems also had something to do with it and now that he's better, he can do something more worthy of him.
And I know Taylor will go far. I haven't seen this much excitement about a contestant since Clay.
