I thought I heard him say "George Bush hates Blacks" before being cut off. But transcripts show "George Bush doesn't care about Blacks". Which was it?

I think the more accurate assessment is that Bush doesn't care about *poor* people, black or whatever. And even if that's just the perception, perception is a potent thing. Just ask those who still think that Iraq was behind 9/11.

If anything was hateful, it was Kanye's uninformed & racist commentary that he spewed during the hurricane relief concert that aired on NBC. The following is taken from an Associated Press article...
Appearing two-thirds through the program, he claimed "George Bush doesn't care about black people" and said America is set up "to help the poor, the black people, the less well-off as slow as possible."
Comedian Mike Myers was paired with West for a 90-second segment that began with Myers speaking of Katrina's devastation. Then, to Myers' evident surprise, West began a rant by saying, "I hate the way they portray us in the media. If you see a black family, it says they're looting. See a white family, it says they're looking for food." Without getting specific, he added, "They've given them permission to go down and shoot us."
The people whom Kayne refers to as "they", are down in Louisiana & Mississippi wading through sewage water to save people from all socio-economic backgrounds. They're also providing medical assistance, food, water, and evacuating people by boat, bus and helicopter... most of which is being done at great risk to their personal health & safety.
Kayne's assessment that only white, affluent folks are being cared for is nauseating at best, and anyone that buys into that load of crap should have their head examined. While I understand that MTV award shows & after parties take up most of Kayne's time, he should spend a few minutes flipping through the photos being circulated online by all the major wire services. There's nothing more aggravating than someone pulling up a soapbox, and delivering an uninformed rant. Just my $.02

I have a problem with Bush on several levels, but even he managed to get Congress to immediately sign-off on $10.5 billion dollars of relief aid.
Additionally, the Chronicle of Philanthropy reported yesterday that total aid for Katrina victims had reached $219 million in just a few days, which has far outpaced expectations & estimates.
While I agree that poverty is color blind, it's unfair to say that the poor have gone unnoticed during this disaster when you consider that Louisiana and Mississippi are some of the poorest areas in the country, but are receiving the bulk of the funding noted above.
To put things in context, after the horrible tsunami events in Asia, Americans donated approximately $30 million in the same time frame.
